Be quiet. Focus, listen\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Did you do that short exercise?<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">God is always trying to communicate with us, but often, His voice gets drowned in all the noise in our heads and in our world.<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 15px; -webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%;\">So to hear him, sometimes we need to do such intentional noise blocking exercises to quiet our minds and focus on his voice.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">One way God loves to communicate with us is through the still small voice\u2026 quiet whispers, gentle whispers some versions of the Bible put it. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201c\u201c<em>After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. And after the earthquake there was a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. <strong>And after the fire <\/strong><\/em><\/span><em><strong><span class=\"s2\">there was the sound of a gentle whisper<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"s1\">. When Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his cloak and went out and stood at the entrance of the cave. And a voice said, \u201cWhat are you doing here, Elijah?\u201d\u201d<br \/>\n<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-size: 15px; -webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%;\">\u202d\u202d1 Kings\u202c \u202d19\u202c:\u202d11\u202cb-13\u202c \u202dNLT\u202c\u202c<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong><span class=\"s1\">A quiet whisper is God\u2019s spirit communicating with your spirit. It\u2019s a form of communication that doesn\u2019t necessarily involve a sound. <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Take for example, if you are in a close relationship with a person, if you\u2019ve known each other for a long time, you can communicate with that person with just one look. I just need to look at my husband\u2019s face sometimes to know what\u2019s going on in his mind. This is the closest illustration I can use to explain the quiet whispers of God. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">It\u2019s a communication between two spirits. Your spirit and God\u2019s spirit. You don\u2019t hear an audible voice but it\u2019s almost as if the words were deposited in your spirit and you understand exactly what He\u2019s saying. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>Hearing God\u2019s quiet whispers comes from a place of intimacy.<\/strong> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Since the beginning of this series on hearing God\u2019s voice a common theme through all our articles and conversations is intimacy with God. You can\u2019t communicate on a deep level with someone you do not have a close relationship with. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">So again, if you are yearning to hear God\u2019s voice, you must build a relationship with him. Through prayer, studying his word and fellowship with other believers you can do this. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In a very common Bible story, Jesus was on the boat with his disciples and there was a violent storm. It was almost tearing their boat apart and they ran to Jesus for help, he awoke and spoke peace to the storm and the waters became still. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Sometimes the violent storms in our lives prevent us from hearing his quiet whispers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Are there raging storms in your life today that won\u2019t let you hear God\u2019s whispers? The devastating circumstances we face that threaten our sanity and steal our peace; loss, sickness, pain, death, suffering, and the list goes on.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">I speak to your soul today;\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Peace, be still. Be still.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">May the raging storms be stilled and may you be wrapped in the embrace of God .
