Trust God and step out in Faith

On Arisesister this season, we would be sharing on FAITH, which is very fundamental in our Christian walk.

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good testimony.“(Hebrews 11:1-2)

Faith is hoping for something you have not seen and believing for it like you have seen it. It entails  stepping into the unknown with total trust and dependence on God who knows the unknown.

For me, last year 2025 began with hope and clear plans. However, around March, I felt a strong prompting in my heart to start an initiative I had long considered, but never believed it was the right time to pursue. The challenge was that the initiative seemed big and and the fear of failure gripped me. The project required time, energy, and financial commitment. I kept asking myself, What if I fail? When I shared the idea with others, some encouraged me because of its potential impact, while others discouraged me. I tried to ignore the prompting, but I had no peace. After praying about it, I still felt afraid, but I chose to trust God anyway. I sought counsel, asked for help, and took the first step. The early stages were difficult, and doubts resurfaced often. Yet instead of quitting, I kept praying and moving forward one small step at a time. Now, almost a year later, I see that the initiative has been established despite uncertain circumstances. It is still growing, and there are still some challenges but this journey has taught me something powerful: faith does not require full clarity, it requires obedience. When we trust God enough to act, even in uncertainties, He leads us forward step by step.

Abraham’s Exemplary Faith

When we study scripture, Abraham is a biblical figure who exemplified faith. In Genesis 12:1-9, we see this old man (Abram who was later called Abraham), 75 years old, called by God to leave his country, family and father’s household and go to a land God will show him. God gave him a promise of prosperity and greatness of him and his lineage. It’s amazing how Abraham took his wife and his nephew and all his possessions and started moving to a place unknown to them until God showed him where to settle, a strange place. The Bible thereafter records:

“By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. By faith he dwelt in the land of promise as in a foreign country, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise; for he waited for the city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God.” (Hebrews 11:8-10)

From Abraham’s story, we notice that Abraham:

  • Knew God (He and God were communicating)
  • Heard God’s word (The promises God gave to him in Genesis 12:1-3)
  • Obeyed God, which was evident in his actions of stepping out and moving immediately with his family to an unknown land
  • Stayed in intimate relationship with God and trusted God’s direction all through, in every step, such that when God told him to settle in a place unknown to him, he obeyed, settled there and built an altar to the Lord

Trust God and Step out in Faith

We are in such a season where many people have received dreams, visions, ideas from God. Some of these visions or ideas seem like calls to engage in things they are already doing, yet in a better way while some may be in a field which is strange to the one who received the vision. For some it may be engaging in business, for others it may be in politics, entertainment, full time ministry, marriage, family life etc. If you are propelled by the Holy Spirit and you believe it’s right timing, step out and follow God’s call. Take the little daily steps and trust God is leading you to the promised land. For you who has the God-given ideas for business, little steps may entail preparing a business case and plan, reading about starting up, talking to people in that field, saving up start-up capital and moving towards establishment sequentially etc.

Faith is fundamental in daily Christian living living. Sometimes stepping out in faith may just be living out the Christian values in today’s communities which seem to be applauding evil over what is right. For instance, living a sexually pure life as a single will warrant trusting God over every other voice or feelings. Sharing little things like food with a neighbor in times of poverty when we do not know what we would eat the next day will only take faith in God who will provide for tomorrow.

For some, God’s promptings to act in faith may be for you to wait in the place or season where you are, trusting His word and doing what He wants you to be doing in that season. God promised Abraham numerous descendants in a season when Abraham did not have a son. Yet God asked Abraham not to be afraid for God is his shield and exceedingly great reward. Abraham trusted God and waited on the promise, not by sitting doing nothing but doing what God assigned him to do in every season and at the end, God’s promise manifested and he obtained a good testimony.

I remember some few months back when a sister in the faith who had recently gotten married and really wanted a new job too was seeking God for a professional breakthrough. She told me in her quiet moments, God had instructed her to be home for a while, taking care of her family and studying more on His word. That sounded strange but she obeyed. Not long from then, she found a job but she is thankful for many things that happened thereafter that she understood why God instructed her to be out of work for a while.

In whatever scenario we find ourselves, the fundamentals of faith remain: Trusting and believing in God and His word; aligning to what God is doing in every season, leading up to fulfillment of His word even when we are uncertain; acting on what we believe by taking daily steps at the pace of God’s grace and staying connected to God to lead us all the way. Whatever it is you believe God is calling you to do in this season, trust God and step out in faith and act in accordance to fulfilling that which He has called you to do.

Step out with the Gospel

We live in times when many have had dreams and visions of the rapture (the second coming of Jesus Christ) and many are having promptings to go out and tell more people about the love of God and establishing a relationship with God through Jesus Christ. Nevertheless, many are still complacent or afraid of reaching out to others with the gospel, waiting for a right time which is now. We need to step out with the gospel, while trusting the Holy Spirit’s guidance and strategies to reach out to the world with the good news of Christ.

You too can begin this Journey of Faith in God

And to the one who has not met Jesus Christ and feels hopeless because you don’t even know this God we are talking about, don’t worry. You can start that relationship today. All you need to know is that God exists and loves you so very much that He wants an intimate relationship with you through His son Jesus Christ. Scripture says: “If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.” (Romans 10:9-10)

You can commence this beautiful relationship with God by repenting from and believing in the finished works of Jesus Christ. If that is your heart’s desire this moment, you can join us to say this prayer of faith, not just jokingly but let it be sincerely from your heart.

“Lord God, you are a great and loving father. Lord, I acknowledge my sins and wrong doings. I come to you this day to cleanse me of my sin and make me whole. I believe in Jesus Christ who died on the cross for my sins and I commit my life to you this day. Take my heart, cleanse me, consecrate me and use me for your glory. Thank you Lord for saving me. Through the name of Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior, Amen.”

If you have sincerely prayed this prayer, believe that God has heard you and you are now part of the family of believers. To deepen your relationship with God, it is important to engage in consistent study of the word of God (the Bible), prayer and fellowship with other Christians.
