Do Not Give It Room

We live in a world today where good morals are being eroded by the day. Many in the pursuit of fame, wealth, power and influence have given up their integrity in exchange for these things. However lack of integrity gives room to dishonesty, corruption and unreliability. Unfortunately, Christians are at the forefront of such situations, they have become victims of the devil (Daniel 11:32a) because they have given up their integrity and the importance of walking in God’s covenant.

When we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we do not only receive His gift of salvation but we automatically enter into a covenant with Him to serve Him in integrity; this covenant is sealed with the Blood of Jesus. Without Integrity in our service to God we will be giving room to a breach of our covenant with God through His son Jesus.
Cultivating Biblically good moral principles will maintain our integrity and our covenant with God. Some of these qualities include:

Deep Reverence and Fear of God

When we hold God in reverence and fear him, we will avoid compromising with sin thereby keeping our covenant with Him. Knowledge of God and His sovereignty in the Heavens and in the earth will develop fear and reverence for God in our hearts (Joshua 1:8). Christians who easily and consciously breach their covenant with God are those who do not spend enough time to know God through His word.

A Heart of Love

When our hearts are filled with love for God and man, we will keep our covenant, promises, and pledges to them. Ruth in the Bible had a heart of love and because of her heart of love, she was able to keep her promise to her mother-in-law to follow her back to her people (Ruth 1:16), Boaz (Ruth’s husband) a man who feared and reverenced God was able to keep his promise to Ruth to redeem and marry her because he had a heart of love (Ruth 4). We can only keep our promises or covenant to those we love; if there is no love in our hearts for God and for man we will not be able to keep our promises to them.

Self-control and Self Discipline

Self-control and self-discipline helps us to resist those things that cause us to breach our covenant with God. These qualities help us to live a life of integrity keeping all the promises we make, we are able to keep the engagements and commitments we make when we are disciplined and self-controlled. A self-controlled and self-disciplined character keeps us away from sin that causes us to breach our covenant with God, these qualities also enable us to be realistic in the promises we make to the people we interact with.

The bible tells us in Daniel 11:32 that the devil took advantage of those who breached their covenant with God through their corruptive and sinful nature. On the other hand this same verse says those who know their God will be strong and do exploits. We can only successfully close the door to ‘breach of covenant’ to God and man when we know God.
Do you know Him? Does He know you? Can He call you His child?
