Hello Brethren and welcome to another glorious month. Six months into the year and God is still ever faithful, ever sure, ever true. I wish to share with you an experience I had recently, trusting God that I/we can learn a little lesson from it.
So I am not accustomed to always being on facebook checking news feeds. I would rather prefer instagram or snap chat as my favorite social media apps. On this fateful day, I checked my facebook page and I saw these amazing achievements of my friends. One just got an international Job (the kind of job I have been dreaming about) the other got a promotion, another a scholarship, and the other got engaged. Wow, I looked in utter amazement at the way things have worked out for them, given that I was always the “Serious One”. For a moment, I felt like quitting facebook and deactivating my account so that I don’t see what others are up to. I looked in envy and the “WHY” thoughts came in. and I wondered in low self esteem.
- Why do I trust God so much and devote my time to Him but still stagnated, while others who know God but don’t reverence him as much are moving forward.
- What have I done wrong to be where I am? What sin did I commit or am I under a curse?
- How did these people get these whereas for me, its always from one rejection to the next.
Sure many of us relate to this at one point in life or the other. With all these questions in my mind, God opened my eyes to certain truths.
- Its okay to feel that way because we are humans and need to succeed in life. However, it’s a sin to envy for I/You are made in the image and likeness of God. (Gen 1:26-27, Psalms 139:14).
- Every testimony has a story. If I don’t face these challenges, then it’s a signal that I am not really serving God. Every hardship you face is because God is conforming you to the likeness of His Son…”(Rom 8:29)
- Do not try to quit seeing the achievements ofothers as I tried to do by attempting to deactivate my facebook account. Rather, it’s a booster for me to work harder, not comparing myself to them but realigning my focus.
ACTION PLAN:
Its often easier said than done, but with all these, I decided to try a therapy and I will equally share some tips hope it will be helpful.
- Take a look at the way other people FOCUS on pursuing their dreams. Loo at what these friends did before being where they are. Ask yourself a few questions like: Do I need to talk with someone? Maybe a counselor, career coach, mentor, etc. Do I need to volunteer or intern somewhere? Do I need to search more openings? Generally the question is what is your FOCUS and How can you move yourself?
- If you are already doing some of the these mention above but still feel down cast, go to God in prayer. Ask Him for the Grace to learn what he wants you to learn in this season of your life and not miss any lesson that will cost you more in the future. Remember He knows the end from the beginning. (Isaiah 46:10. And He disciplines those whom he loves. (Hebrews 12:6). Ask Him for patience in your waiting room to endure everything.
I hope you find strength to face the challenges of life and may God grant you the Grace to wait on him. “ANYONE WHO TRUSTS IN THE LORD WILL NEVER BE PUT TO SHAME.” Rom 10:11.
Thanks ooo
