The desires of our hearts (The Power of Humility)

Hello Friend,

Good to have you back here. Have you started receiving all the goodies of the season? Sure you have and you still have some things you want which have not yet been given. That’s why we are here to help you get those desires of your heart. Remember that’s what we have been talking about and will be talking about this month as we round off the year. This is just to activate your faith, redirect your focus and position you for the great things God has in store for you in 2020.

Last week we spoke about the power of Focus which essentially means delighting/Focusing on God  to have your desires met. Today we will be taking the 2nd key to getting your desires which is “THE POWER OF HUMILITY”. I know you have heard it many times “God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble” and you may be saying well I am not proud. I help people I do this and that. And I wish to burst your bubble that if you tell yourself you are not proud, you do this or that, then you are proud in a way. Hahaha. But that’s not our focus for today. To be able to understand the Power of Humility in getting the Desires of your heart, I will begin by asking this question. “WHY ARE SOME OF OUR PETINENT HEART DESIRES NOT GRANTED? WHY DO WE HAVE TO PRAY AND PRAY AND NOTHING HAPPENS?” Yes. There are many times I have asked these questions and  I did not find answers till I got this revelation.

James 4:3 “When you ask you do not receive because you ask with the wrong motives. That you may spend on your pleasures.”

Was this verse just talking to me? Oh Yes it was. And you are still wondering why your desires have not been met when all you really want is to compare with your friends or put up a wonderful post on your Instagram page so everyone should know you have arrived. I write these words and I feel so guilty. But I am able to speak about these things because God delivered me from them when He gave me a heart of humility which I seek everyday because I am not yet there. I still have traces of self pride within me. My earnest prayer is that you too should desire humility as your watchword so that all your desires will be met. As you pray for the garment of humility, Let Jeremiah 9: 24 be your watchword “But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the Lord which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the Lord.”

Now let me take us on a little ride into the birth of Jesus. Because it’s Christmas season and we can’t go without talking about it. Have you ever asked why the Shepherds on the field tending their flock at night were the first people whom the birth of Jesus was announced to?  (Luke 2:8-11). Generally, Shepherds are always looked upon as outcasts because they are always in the bushes running after sheep. But it is symbolic that God will choose to use these shepherds as the first evangelists of the good news as they went and saw the Messiah and passed on the message.  They did not have the right packaging or “Swag” to be the bearers of glad tidings to the world but because of the humility of their hearts, God used them to bring the good news from the heavenly realm (the angels) to the earthly realm (their testimony of the Messiah). This is the same analogy of David and Joseph. They were poor shepherd boy who were forgotten by their families and were out wondering in the fields looking after the flock. Because of the humility in their hearts, God lifted David to a king and Joseph to a Governor.

My prayer for you dear reader is that you examine your self and equally ask God to examine you (Psalms 139:23-24) to see if you  have any evil motives or hidden pride that prevents you you from receiving the desires of your heart . Let him wash you clean and clothe you with the garment of humility so that like David, you will move from the bush to the throne.

Remain forever blessed.
