Good to be back again. I hope we all had a glorious new year day celebration. After all the festivities are gone, its time to plan with God. Here, we have our first tip for a glorious year which is about “CHANGING YOUR FOCUS.”
What is FOCUS?
Focus may mean “the center of interest or activity”. It may also mean “adapting to the prevailing level of light and becoming able to see clearly.” I will take the 2nd definition for the purpose of planning a glorious year.
Many people hardly ever move forward in life because they spend time thinking about past glories or past failures and hence forget to plan for the future or forget to make the most out the present situation. It is very important to adapt to the prevailing level of light to be able to see clearly. Therefore, In order to change your focus, you must FORGET THE FORMER THINGS. Isaiah 43:18-19
“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”
WHAT WAS YOUR FOCUS IN 2017? 2017 is gone with all its burdens and cares. Let us stop looking behind but rather look ahead. Even though things are difficult, we must change our focus. In this New Year 2018, we should know where we are going and start making up our minds from now the direction of our lives.
Our past victories can motivate us to accomplish more but our past victories can never sustain us. David’s past victory motivated him to stand up against Goliath. But he did not depend solely on his past victory but he looked at the present situation, what he had in his hand and what God could do with what he had in his hand. He had only a small catapult in his hand, great faith in his heart and a great God who backed him up. and. 1 Samuel 17:36-40:
“Your servant has killed both the lion and the bear; this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, because he has defied the armies of the living God. The Lord who rescued me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will rescue me from the hand of this Philistine…Then he took his staff in his hand, chose five smooth stones from the stream, put them in the pouch of his shepherd’s bag and, with his sling in his hand, approached the Philistine.”
Forget the past, focus on the present and have faith in the God who secures a good future for you.
See you in the next tip.
Remain blessed.
