Taking The High Road Into Gratitude and Praises

At times in life we get so overwhelmed with challenges that we fail to see the Mighty Hand of God working in the midst of our challenges. Sometimes we take the wrong option of rebellion, as a solution to our frustrations believing that rebellion will make God see, understand our pain and come to our rescue.

But this is where many Christians go wrong; rebellion on the contrary, furnishes our challenges / frustrations, and gives more impetus for the devil our enemy to act in our lives.

Rebellion limits the power of God in our lives.

It is very important for us to know our God, to know His word and remain standing despite the challenges that blow our way. God says He has very great plans for us (Jeremiah 29:11), He says He is with us at all times (Mathew 28:20), and He will never forsake us (Hebrews 13:5). This implies that God is always there even in our most trying periods and instead of rebelling, we should spend time being thankful and in praises for He never makes mistakes. Biblical heroes like David, Paul and Silas, Daniel, Jehoshaphat and his men etc. all understood the power of gratitude and praises which moved mountains in their lives and rendered them conquerors.

The following tips are guides to maintaining and remaining in a victorious life of persistent praises and gratitude unto God;

1. Love God Unceasingly

A heart that is madly in love with God will never give up on God no matter the winds that blow its way. We do not give up on our much loved ones even when they hurt us. We learn to forgive them and intentionally commit to loving them, what more of God who does not hurt us but pours out His abundant grace upon us? We love God because He loved us even when we were still sinners (John 3:16), He loved us for who we are and did not judge us but accepted us. Such love is the basis for our gratitude and praises which should not come to an end because of temporary challenges

2. Overcome Fear

A heart that is fearful cannot praise God faithfully. The devil always uses the trick of fear upon his victims so as to steal their blessings, gratitude and praises unto God. Fear limits the power of God in the lives of His children and gives room for the devil to steal from them. A fearful person can never achieve her full potential which will lead to frequent disappointments in her life, and consequently limit gratitude and praises. We must therefore overcome fear if we desire the high road of gratitude and praises

3. Praise God for who he is and not for what He has done for you

Many Christians tend to praise God only when they do not face challenges and when He has blessed them or granted their heart desires. Our gratitude and praises to God should not be on this basis but should be to please Him, to exalt Him and to give Him the glory at all times. The Bible says that “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord” (Psalm 150:6), this implies that praises should be given to God every day we breath, it could be a very challenging or difficult day, or it could be a joyful day. Our praises to God should be to acknowledge His supremacy and to please Him, they should not be given to God only when we are happy but at all times. Paul and Silas praised God even when they had faced a very challenging day, were beaten and locked up in prison.

Gratitude and praises are very powerful weapons that move God to act faster in our lives rather than rebellion which delays God’s blessings in our lives. It is proven throughout the bible that when children of God focused on gratitude and praises, God acted mightily and powerfully in their favor. Gratitude and praises keep hearts at peace even in the midst of heavy storms.
