Spiritual pride is one of the most harmful sins to your faith. It causes you to look away from Jesus and shine the spot light on you.
Today, the more independent you are as a person, the more you’re applauded. God calls on us to live our faith in selflessness, dependence and in servanthood. Our previous write ups illucidated on what spiritual pride is.
This write up focusses on how to combat spiritual pride.
1. Engage in continuous self examination
Continuously search your life rather than spend time exposing and talking about others and their wrongs. The Christian walk is a sober one. No one has attained yet, so no genuine christian should be excited to run down others. If you think you are standing strong, be careful, for you too may fall into thesame sin. Don’t ne naive and self confident, you are not exempt. Constantly examine yourself and this will help purge you of spiritual pride.
2.Repent and forsake spiritual pride
Spiritual pride is sin and like every other, it should be confessed and forsaken. Be sincere and don’t be a hypocrite. God sees your heart and He knows whether there is spiritual pride there. The sin you don’t repent and forsake will become your master.
3. Be teachable
Don’t have an ungovernable attitude, be teachable. Don’t feel you know it all, because spiritual prideful people hardly know they are proud. Anyone with a teachable spirit, will be able to correct his faults when pointed out.
4. Have an accountability partner
The Bible says two are better than one……. for if they fall, one will lift up her companion. If you notice symptoms of spiritual pride in you, discuss it with your accountability partner, she could be a Christian leader or a mature Christian friend who can be praying for you on the issue and evaluating the progress you are making.
5. Pray without ceasing
Continous prayer is essential in overcoming spiritual pride. Everyone is vulnerable to spiritual pride therefore should pray daily for God to keep us humble
God is looking for those who are humble to use. Don’t be too big that God can’t use you.
