Are we saved just by confessing Jesus as Lord? There is the tendency among Christians to believe that once saved,we are forever saved. But this is not the case. The moment one confesses Jesus as Lord and believes in her heart, she is saved-Truth. But once you confess and believe,it is your spirit that is saved and not your soul.
The salvation of your soul is a continuous process after the salvation of your spirit. So once you confess Jesus as Lord, you have a daunting task of continuously working out your salvation of soul till you die, because it is your soul that roams when you die.If your soul isn’t saved then you can’t cross to the other side. So it is important as Christian’s to understand that, when you are born again,it is your spirit that is saved not your soul and body.
Your soul is where your mind, your thoughts are. The body is the physical tent in which the soul and spirit reside in. The spirit is God’s property in you. The real you is your soul,so your soul needs a continuous renewal. The fact that your spirit is saved the day you become born again, doesn’t guarantee you eternal life?Paul asks, “should we continue to live in sin because Grace abounds? Definitely Not!” Paul again reminds us of the need to continuously work out our salvation with trembling and fear.
Salvation is therefore a continuous journey,we need to work out, striving to better, living right through the grace of God. We shouldn’t get complacent because we have come to Zion, because the gift of salvation will be taken away from us. Yes,if you give a gift you cherish to a child, say a very expensive gift you cherish, and you find that kid rubbing it in mud, mal handling it, because you know the value of what you’ve given the kid,you will take it.God values the gift He has given us,let’s value it and not get comfortable with it to the point of loosing it.
Delivery is normal but child raising is a whole lot and way different from delivery. Delivery is confession/accepting Christ. The period of raising up the child is just like the process of working out your salvation so that your soul is saved at the end of the age.
So friends,it’s not about hurrying in excitement that you’ve been saved when you confess Jesus as Lord, but it’s a continuous process of working it out. Let your Christianity be reflected in your actions, speech, thoughts. People should be able to define your Christianity from your actions and not you declaring you have Christ. Let the Christ in you be seen.
The call therefore dear friends is not just to be excited about being saved, but to be mindful not to loose our salvation. To maintain the salvation, there’s the need for a continuous working out through our lifestyles, our interactions and our all. Let Christ be seen and felt in us that we indeed be worthy of His saving grace.
Remain Forever Blessed
