Greetings to you dear reader, and its nice to share some enlightenment with you. I am most excited about the fact that its Christmas Season and I don’t know if y’all love Christmas like I do, going to the mall, seeing Santa, the beautiful decorations, the Christmas sales and all that funky stuff. When we ask people “What do you want for Christmas”, we get all sought of things. From Gucci bags, to weaves, shoes, etc. In an African setting, Christmas is when most people go back to their villages or home towns to spend the holidays with their immediate and extended families. Those who have gone abroad for greener pastures find this as the best time to come home to see their families. Because of these, there are some young people whose main desire for Christmas is to meet a guy/girl who will marry them in Cameroon we call it “meeting a Bush Faller”. So they do all it takes to “catch one fish”. Hardly have I ever seen somebody answering this question by saying “I want to spend time with Jesus, in getting to know Him and having an intimate relationship with Him.” We get so lost in our personal cravings and forget what is most important. That’s why I will like us to take sometime to talk about “OUR FOCUS” in the desires of our hearts.
I once had a conversation with my sister on some issues very common to young girls especially on the issue of marriage and we shared the testimonies of friends and relatives, the ones who got married for the wrong reasons, the ones who got married for the right reasons and all that. So my sister kept using a phrase “Thank God for Changing my perspective.” Initially, it sounded normal. But I sat to ponder on those words and I saw that indeed, our desires can only be met when we have the right perspective. What then is the right perspective?
For this purpose, I will take us to one scripture which inspires me every time I read it. Psalms 37:4 KJV “Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.”
How do I delight myself in the Lord?
Many times, we believe to be a Christian has to be about going to church every Sunday, giving tithes and offerings. But there is more to it than mere church appearance. It all begins in the heart. Delighting yourself in God means redirecting your FOCUS. Matthew 6:33 “But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all other things shall be added unto you.” Its very difficult to practice this in a highly moral decadent society where everyone sees someone who is trying to Focus on God as old school or boring. But in all, there is everything to gain from Redirecting your Focus. As you Redirect your FOCUS, God will change your perspective in life. You don’t only see things differently but things begin to work for you differently. You experience peace, Joy, abundant provision and what have you.
Now Christmas is just a week away and my question to you is “What is the Desire of your heart?” Or “What do you want for Christmas?” Will you rather seek to know the messiah and why He was Born, So that in seeking to Know Him more He will provide all the other desires or your heart? Or will you rather desire to meet a “bush faller” who will break your heart because you did not seek God in seeking him as a spouse?
I ask again “What is the desire of your heart this season?” I dare you to redirect your Focus, so that God will change your perspective and you will have all the desires of your heart.
Please remember the watch words this season: “DELIGHT, FOCUS, DESIRES”
MERRY CHRISTMAS IN ADVANCE.
