Hello dear friends, by the grace of God, we are introducing the next series of Arise Sister write-ups. This session of write-ups will focus on “THE WOMAN” God created. The best way to know and understand the functioning of a product is to understand the manufacturer’s perspective of the functioning of that product, which is gotten through the manufacturer’s manual. We were created by God and the ultimate way of knowing who we are is understanding who we are according to God’s perspective found in His word-the Bible. Our write-ups this season will focus on understanding who a woman is by studying the women in the bible and it is our prayer that through these studies, we would understand, be imparted and by the help of the Holy Spirit live as Godly women.
Let’s take a look at Genesis 1:26-31 and Genesis 2:18-23:
“Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them male and female he created them. God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.” Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds in the sky and all the creatures that move along the ground—everything that has the breath of life in it—I give every green plant for food.” And it was so. God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the sixth day”
“The LORD God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.” Now the LORD God had formed out of the ground all the wild animals and all the birds in the sky. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name. So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds in the sky and all the wild animals. But for Adam no suitable helper was found. So the LORD God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribs and then closed up the place with flesh. Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man. The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh she shall be called ‘woman,’ for she was taken out of man.”
The narratives above show that the woman is created in the image and likeness of God and has a purpose. Being made in the image and likeness of God gives us insight to who we are and our purpose on Earth. We are like an angled mirror to reflect God’s glory on the earth. In Genesis 3, Mankind was seduced by evil and compromised the God-given vocation which led to the fall but God restored us through Jesus Christ. So through Jesus Christ we are justified, redeemed and restored to who God created us to be. Romans 3:22-24 “… for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus…”
Jesus Christ is the very image of God (Colossians 1:15) and the good news is that God restores his image in us through Jesus Christ. God is restoring us to his image by conforming us to the image of Jesus Christ by the Holy Spirits power. It is through our union with Jesus Christ that we being transformed into the image of God. (2 Corinthians 3:17-18). A woman is created in the image and likeness of God for a Godly purpose. It is through our union with Jesus Christ that we are being transformed into the image of God. Remember it is only through the manufacturer’s lens can we know the proper use of a product. It is in God our creator and through His word about the woman that we really can understand the purpose of a woman. It is fundamentally through God’s word and this union with Jesus Christ that we understand who we are and what our purpose is. Then can we truly reflect the image of God and fulfil the purpose for which we were created.
Dear reader, if you do not know Jesus Christ or have not yet engaged in a relationship with Jesus Christ, there is hope. Scripture says “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.” (Romans 10:9-10).
You can join us to say this prayer of faith, not just jokingly but let it be from your heart.
“Lord God, you are a great and loving father. Lord, I acknowledge my sins and wrong doings. I come to you this day to cleanse me of my sin and make me whole. I believe in Jesus Christ who died on the cross for my sins and I commit my life to you this day. Take my heart, cleanse me, consecrate me and use me for your glory. Thank you Lord for saving me. Through the name of Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior, Amen.”
