The success of every long lasting relationship is guaranteed by mutual understanding between partners, regular communication and commitment to each other. This can only be effective when partners do certain things like speaking the love language of each other. Some primary love languages of God were mentioned in our previous post amongst which was faith (God’s Love Language “Faith”) . Speaking the love language of one’s partner does not however happen so easily every day because we are all humans and at times our self-centered natures and egos may step into the way; these are some of the many challenges in relationships.
As Christians, we know that we can only please God through our faith in Him (Hebrews 11:6). Just as we are happy when our love language is spoken, in the same way God is happy when we speak His love language. But what do we do when we face challenges in speaking God’s love language? We face challenges of faith when we experience setbacks such as failures, rejections, loss, heartbreak, poverty, betrayal etc. It is at such moments that the depth and weight of our love for God is tested and proven. We can see this even with our human relationships; the depth of love a couple shares is proven when they face massive setbacks (this love cannot be seen when things are going on smoothly).
Having faith in God therefore does not mean that you would not face setbacks. Rather faith in God gives you the strength to scale through the most difficult moments. Faith in God when faced with challenges gives you an opportunity to prove your love for Him. There is no relationship on earth without challenges because we are sharing the earth with our enemy the devil who does not want to see us happy. The devil knows that when we speak God’s love language, He will be very pleased with us and will lavish us with so many blessings that will make us happy. That is why he brings up challenges and temptations on our path every day through our daily interactions at work, in the market, in public places or even in the church so that we might fail from expressing our love for God through faith.
We must therefore possess the right understanding about our relationship with God so as to act rightly at all times, and this understanding can only be gained through His word. If you long to speak God’s love language of faith, you must fill your heart and mind with the Word of God that gives us understanding about God. We cannot speak the love language of our partner or our friends, siblings or parents if we do not know them. Just as we spend time to know and understand our loved ones by communicating with them daily, we should spend time to know and understand God through a daily commitment to study and grow in knowledge of His word and regular communication with Him through prayers (1 Thessalonians 5:17). It is only by doing this that we will be able to overcome the many challenges of faith that come our way on a daily basis.
